Grace in Every Step

The Dancer’s Journey

Pranita Kata, a senior at Riverside High School in Greenville, SC, has been dedicated to Bharatanatyam since the age of 4 under the guidance of Sivakami Bhavanandan and Krishna Kumar. Over 12 years, she has performed at temples, cultural festivals, and international events, both in the U.S. and India.

A Life in Rhythm

Arangetram Milestone

Pranita reached a rare milestone in Bharatanatyam by completing her Arangetram, a three-hour solo debut performance with a live orchestra of musicians from India. Only about 5% of Bharatanatyam dancers achieve this level of artistry.

Sharing the Art

Beyond performing, Pranita actively shares her love for dance by tutoring students in-person and online. As an assistant teacher, she guides juniors, volunteers in productions, and manages backstage work from logistics to makeup and costumes

Community Through Dance

Dance for Pranita is also about giving back. She has performed at community events and nonprofit fundraisers, using her art to bring people together and support meaningful causes.

Academic Excellence

Alongside dance, Pranita excels academically, pursuing AP and Honors courses with strong interests in healthcare, international law, and public health administration. She combines her artistic discipline with academic ambition.

Leadership & Advocacy

Pranita is a state and national-level speech and debate competitor, choreographer for cultural programs, varsity athlete, and active member of environmental advocacy groups. She also holds CPR and crisis prevention certifications.
